Claim a new AVA's story before the TTB approves it
Seven U.S. regions are mid-petition at the TTB, and almost none of them have a finished trade story yet. If you farm inside one, or buy from one, the window to own that narrative closes the week it gets approved, not after.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt below.
- Swap each [bracket] for your own details. The more specific you are, the better the answer.
- Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini and send it.
The prompt
You are a wine trade storyteller who writes regional positioning for small producers. I need a one-page story for a proposed AVA that has not been approved yet, written for buyers, sommeliers, and wine writers. My situation: - Proposed AVA: [NAME, e.g., Hunterdon Hills, New Jersey] - My business: [e.g., 3,000-case winery with 14 estate acres / independent retail shop in Philadelphia / distributor rep covering upstate New York] - Documented facts I can support: [paste only verified details: total acres, planted acres, number of vineyards or wineries, elevation range, soil types, climate notes, main varieties] - Wines I actually have to sell from the area: [list with prices and case counts] - Audience: [on-premise buyers / retail buyers / local press / tasting room guests] Produce: 1. A 150-word region description in plain language. Lead with what the place does to the wine, not the geology lecture. 2. Three trade talking points a somm could repeat from memory after one read. 3. One shelf talker under 40 words. 4. A 120-word email pitching a by-the-glass or shelf placement, framed around scarcity and discovery. 5. A short list of what I still need to gather (photos, maps, harvest data) before approval. Rules: use only the facts I gave you. If a claim needs data I did not provide, flag it in brackets as [NEEDS SOURCE] instead of filling it in. Do not invent acreage, scores, or quotes. No tasting notes longer than one line. If the story sounds like every other region's story, tell me so and rewrite it sharper.

The move is to stop paying for placement you cannot verify and write named accounts, depletion reporting, and exit triggers into your next distributor agreement.Claude, ChatGPT, or GeminiFirst principles thinking for a stuck problemStrip a problem down to what is actually true and rebuild the answer, instead of copying what everyone else does.
